Bollom Intulac™ Ultra Varnish Base Coat is a high performance fire protection coating for interior wood surfaces. Use with a protective Intulac™ Satin or Matt Finish Top Coat to complete the protective coating system.

The Bollom Intulac™ Ultra Varnish system provides a high performance fire protection coating system for interior wood surfaces. It comprises a clear, transparent, water-based intumescent base coat – designed to form a protective carbon char in the event of fire, delaying the inflammation of the wood – and a clear, transparent, solvent-based protective top coat (available in Matt and Satin finishes).

Intulac™ Ultra Base Coat is designed to form a protective carbon char in the event of fire, delaying the inflammation of the wood. It reduces ignitability of soft and hard wood and other wood derivatives I.e. plywood, chipboard, fibre insulation board, hard board and also on veneering (less than or equal to 12mm thick). It also insulates against heat, checks fire, prevents propagation of fire and diminishes flue-gas density and flue-gas temperature

BOLLOM INTULAC™ ULTRA varnish is a high performance fire protection coating system for wood for interior use. The system comprises a clear Intumescent Base Coat - designed to form a protective carbon char in the event of fire, delaying the inflammation of the wood - and a clear Protective Top Coat (available in Matt and Satin finishes). Intulac™ Ultra is applied to deliver Class 0 fire performance.
Application Areas - Reduction of ignitability of soft and hard wood and other wood derivatives, i.e. plywood, chipboard, fibre insulation board, hard board, also on veneering ≥ 12 mm thickness. Insulates against heat, checks fire, prevents propagation of fire and diminishes flue-gas density and flue-gas temperature. For interior use only. Not suitable for surfaces exposed to mechanical stress, such as floors, doors stairs etc.
Preparation - Surface must be dry, free from dust, oil, wax, grease, release agents, etc. Wood substrates with wetting difficulties should be roughened thoroughly with abrasive paper. The moisture content of the timber should be below 15%. For particularly resinous or knotty timber apply 1 coat of Zinsser Sealcoat. Application over a maximum of four, well adhered, single coats of existing varnish is possible, sand lightly before applying Intulac Ultra Base Coat.
Coating Preparation - Stir thoroughly prior to
Site Conditions - Object temperature should not be below 10°C or exceed 40°C. Relative humidity should not exceed 70%. Application temperature shall be at least ≥ 3 K above dew point. In cases where relative humidity may exceed 70%, special measures must be taken to prevent condensation forming during application of the product.

Drying Time : Touch dry 2hrs, hard dry 24 hrs at 20°C and 60% relative humidity.
Allow a minimum of 16 hours between coats of basecoat & 48 hours before applying Topcoat. Lower temperatures and higher relative humidity may extend drying time.
Do not stack timber components treated with the Bollom Intulac Ultra System. Bollom Intulac™ Intumescent Base Coat must be overcoated with Bollom Intulac™ Ultra Top Coat (Matt or Satin finish) after approximately 48 hours and not more than 4 days.
Application Methods : 
Airless spraying: - Material shall be applied undiluted. - Airless spray equipment with transmission ≥ 30:1. - Hose diameter not below 3/8”. - Recommended nozzle size 0.28-0.38 mm or 0.011-0.015”. - Solvent resistant hoses must be used. Apply two coats of Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat to a coverage of 5m 2 /L per coat for Class 0. In order to obtain a very smooth finish by cutting down wood fibres, light sanding after the first coat is recommended (e.g. with 150 grade paper).
Brushing / Rolling: - Material shall be applied undiluted. - Apply two coats of Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat to a coverage rate of 5 m2 /L per coat for Class 0.
Consumption / Coverage - The Intulac™ Ultra system requires the application of both the Intumescent Base Coat and Protective Top Coat as follows; Class 0 (3 coat system)
Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat Apply 2 coats @ 5m2 /L each coat Intulac™
Ultra Protective Top Coat Apply 1 coat @ 25m²/L 
A 5 Litre can of Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat will cover 12.5m 2 for Class 0.
Cleaning of Equipment : Clean immediately after use with warm water.
Shelf Life 12 months from date of manufacture, in unopened tins stored in cool, well ventilated frost free conditions.
Health & Safety – refer to product MSDS Keep out of the reach of children. Use personal protection equipment as required. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Store in a closed container. VOC Information EU limit value for this product (cat A/i): 140 g/l. This product contains max 140 g/l VOC. How do I get Fire Certification? It’s simple, just keep proof of purchase, batch numbers of the products used along with site details and contact our Customer Services Department on 0191 410 6611 with the information and they will send you the relevant Certificate of Supply within 5 working days. The Bollom Intulac™ Ultra range has been made with the professional painter and decorator in mind and all products are easy to apply and have been fire tested to BS 476 Parts 6, 7.

We can arrange special delivery times at additional cost to the customer at the carriers additional timed rates.

Deliveries are subject to different carrier's discretion but are normally up to 6 pm, any quoted delivery times are estimates only.

CFG Finishes / Glenwood Decorating Supplies accept no liability in relation to late delivery beyond the value of the goods in transit.

In the rare case we cannot get an item to you on time, you will be notified by email or telephone.

We Do Not Pick & Dispatch Goods on Saturday, Sunday Or Bank Holiday's, Orders placed on these days will be picked, packed and processed on the first available working day after these days.


Dented Cans and Other Damages

All items dispatched are brand new and in previously unopened containers (with the exception of mixed paint colours). Products in transit with a carrier can on occasion incur some damage. They are NEVER dispatched in such a condition .

As you would expect, items which unfortunately have arrived leaking will be replaced after receipt of photographic evidence, which is required in any claim process. Dented or bulged tins with no paint loss are deemed 100% fit for purpose, paint quantity is not lost and paint quality is not impaired. We will not refund or replace a dent or bulging tin on the basis the paint inside is in perfect condition, the tin is only a transportation vessel.

This does not affect your statutory rights.




All returned goods / products must be transported, stored, handled & used in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.

Upon receipt of your order you must check it carefully. Any damaged, wrong, or short delivered items must be reported to Glenwood Decorating Supplies within 48 Hours of receipt of the delivery via email to: or on 01325 288003.

In any correspondence, you must quote your invoice / delivery note number. Please retain all packaging in case you should need to return your order, you must send a copy of original invoice /delivery note, with any goods which may be returned. Glenwood Decorating Supplies reserves the right to charge a 25% handling charge on goods returned, goods returned and not in complete re-saleable condition a refund will be negotiable based on condition. 

We are unable to accept any mixed paints back.



All products we supply are covered by the manufacturers warranties.

Any faulty goods must be reported within 7 days of receipt of your order.

Products not used in accordance with the manufacturers specification or intended use will not be replaced & or warranties will be void.

We may request photographic evidence in conjunction to any claims.

Goods will be refunded, but we reserve the right not to refund any carriage or packaging costs, special order products will be discussed on an individual basis.



We will refund items up to 28 days from date of purchase only if returned in Original, Saleable Condition and in original packaging,        un-opened within 7 days of receipt of your delivery, except mixed paint shades or items bought in as special order these we cannot accept back.

Non faulty goods must be returned at the customers own expense. Glenwood Decorating Supplies can advise on appropriate carriers.

Returned items should be correctly packaged & insured against loss or damage in transit, Glenwood Decorating Supplies accepts no liability for goods damaged when returned by customers own transport method and this may affect any refund.

Glenwood Decorating Supplies accepts no responsibility for items lost or damaged in return transit back to our address, if returned by customers own transport. Goods returned by customers own transport method remain the responsibility of the customer until signed for by a member of Glenwood Decorating Supplies staff to say they are in good condition.

Goods not accepted back and Non refundable terms include :  Special mixed items, Goods we have bought in specially ( Not Standard Stock Line ), Goods outside statutory 28 day returns policy.

Once Glenwood Decorating Supplies has dispatched your order it may not be possible to stop the delivery process. Please examine all rolls of wall covering & borders BEFORE cutting to check that the design, colour & amount areas ordered, at the same time check for any visible shading or imperfections. Check that all rolls are of the same shade not only the batch numbers on the labels, but also by unwrapping & visually comparing one against another.

It is essential to read the manufacturers instruction BEFORE commencing the job and to take particular note of any recommendations regarding the type of application of adhesive, soaking times, pattern matching etc..

We cannot accept responsibility for any labour charges, expenses or consequential losses. The user must accept liability once work has commenced.

No claim material will be accepted for wall covering hung in access of 1 roll, ( 3-4 lengths). DO NOT CONTINUE to cut and hang if the problem is apparent.

In the event of a claim, we must have samples showing the imperfection, complete with all labels.

Please ensure you have enough material to complete the job, as additional rolls ordered may take a few days to arrive and may vary from the original shade / batch.

We cannot accept any wallpaper returned after 28 days from date of purchase.

We will not accept odd rolls of wallpaper to be returned, minimum return quantity of 3 rolls

We cannot guarantee being able to obtain speciifc batch numbers once your order has been delivered, ensure you purchase enough to complete your project.



For hanging more than 3 lengths when a defect is apparent.

For surface appearance / colour changes when the wall covering is used over fresh un-neutralised plaster, dark, patchy or unsuitable substrates.

For damages or losses resulting from improper wall preparation, incorrect adhesive, incorrect soaking, stretching or poor workmanship.

For any damages or loss due to faulty or careless handling.

For any labour charges incurred where the user or a contractor has commenced work without all materials to hand. Please allow adequate time for transport & delivery. No delivery times can be guaranteed and all products are subject to availability.

Glenwood Decorating Supplies accept no liability for goods delivered late. It is the sole responsibility of the customer to place orders in time for commencement of works being carried out, it is the responsibility of the customer to check stock and delivery times with Glenwood Decorating Supplies if this is critical to a project.

We do not accept any part tins of paint back.

We will not accept the return of electrical or spray equipment that have been opened and used without a specific fault being diagnosed and discussed.



All items despatched are brand new and in previously un-opened containers ( with the exception of mixed paint colours ). In transit damage can occur dents or bulged tins, they are not despatched in such a condition and the resulting minor damages are as a consequence of third party carriers transporting and handling items in less than an ideal manner. Clearly items which unfortunately arrive leaking will be replaced after receipt of photographic evidence which is required in any claim process, dented or bulged tins with no paint loss are deemed fit for purpose, paint quantity is not lost and paint quality is not impaired and as such are not eligible for return or refund.


Orders which have been attempted by our carriers or Royal mail and due to customer not being available to sign for, or accept goods these order will be " Carded " i.e. the carrier company will leave information to the attempted deilivery and to who you need to contact regarding re-arranging for the goods to be re-delivered. 

Non - Delivered goods : the carrier company will make 1 further attempt, there after the goods will be held in the nearest depot for 5 working days awaiting the customer to contact them, after the 5 days the goods will be returned to Glenwood Decorating Supplies, this cost will be passed on to the customer, either as a deduction on a refund or in the case of the goods being re-directed to the customer an additional carriage charge may be applied.

Any order left " Safe "  without a signature being obtained by the courier, these goods are left entirely at the discretion / express wish of the customer and are considered from that point the sole responsibility of the customer. Glenwood Decorating Supplies accepts no further liability.

Glenwood Decorating Supplies are unable to accept any returns for paint which have been mixed for the customer in any capacity. This is due to the fact, we are unable to sell that product again as the colour is specific to the customer that ordered it. Please ensure you have selected the correct colour before ordering and ask to be sent a colour chart in the post if you are not sure.

We are not responsible for any views we express regarding colours and any advice we give, it is the sole responsibility of the customer to select the correct colour. If you are choosing a colour from the computer screen remember the resolution on computer monitors can differ depending on the make and model, names of colours also change from manufacturer to manufacturer, we will only make colours with stated BS 4800, BS 381c, RAL, NCS colours these are standard references, we also advice purchasing enough paint to complete the job as paint shades may differ slightly from batch to batch.

We would like to mention another phenomen, Metomarism is sometimes used to describe one colour viewed under different light conditions and the colour may appear different shades, this can also occur due to different soft furnishings, it?s all due to light refraction.

Glenwood Decorating Supplies reserves the right to offer a refund in the form of a Credit Note held on our system until such time as the customer has a need for more material.

We must stress that if you are at any time uncertain of anything stop and please give ourselves a call and we can clarify your question.

Please follow all manufacturers application instructions any uncertainty please ring. Always try a test area before commencing with a large job and ensure complete compatibility of coatings to substrate.
